Coastal Blanket

20 November, 2014Leave a comment

A 'ta-dah' moment! I finished the blanket I was making for Ewan at the weekend. I am so pleased with it. Not only is is Lucy's Neat Ripple pattern, which is so soothing to work, but it is her colour scheme too. Oh, Coastal Ripple, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... … Continue reading Coastal Blanket

What Is Wrong With People?

3 November, 20142 Comments

I've only started crocheting seriously in the last few months. As is my way, once I started to get seriously interested, I started searching out blogs on the subject. I was delighted to find that there are lots of blogs devoted to crochet. Some offer patterns to buy, along with free patterns and tutorials, many … Continue reading What Is Wrong With People?

Cottage Garden Throw

1 November, 20142 Comments

I've finally finished the throw I've been making for mum's christmas present. I love mum's garden. It's very much a cottage garden with a huge variety of colour all jumbled together. At the height of the summer, it looks amazing. I was inspired by all the colours of the plants and flowers and the idea … Continue reading Cottage Garden Throw

I have spent the day slaving over a hot sewing machine, joining my rows together. I’m surprised at how much the sashing lightens everything. I like it even more than I thought I was going to 😍 I’m aiming to get the borders on tomorrow, then it can go for quilting. By the time I was attaching the 6th row, I was finding quite a struggle to wrangle everything; I can’t imagine trying to quilt it! #whateverquilt #warpedspinster #quilting
I’ve sewn all my blocks into rows; next I need to tackle joining the rows. I’ve gone a little off piste and am putting sashing between my blocks. I’m really happy with how it’s looking. I spoke to a longarm quilter yesterday as I think I’ve bitten off more than I can chew in terms of the quilting 😳 This will be about 7’x7’- a bit ambitious for my first serious quilting project! I definitely want to have a go at some quilting though 😊 Watch this space! #whateverquilt #quilting
29/36 blocks complete 😎 I shall finish the rest tomorrow. I’m in a lather of indecision about how to quilt it having done bugger-all quilting to date! Do I have a go myself/shell out and send it to a long-arm quilter/tie it, or even hand quilt it? Answers on a postcard please 😳 #whateverquilt #skillshareproject #mighthavebittenoffmorethanicanchew #sewing #quilting
More sewing! This is the first block of 36 😳 I’m finding it quite nerve-wracking because I haven’t made a major boo-boo yet. I can’t believe that I won’t 🤣 I suspect my ‘scant 1/4” seam’ isn’t quite scant enough, but it’s going together pretty well 🤞🤞🤞 #whateverquilt #skillshare #skillshareproject #sewing #quilting #mynervesareinrags
