Confused? Welcome to my world. I seem to have mislaid a day this week. On Monday I spent the day finishing off de-cluttering our bedroom and giving it a deep clean, from top to bottom (I’ve never hoovered a ceiling before!). I am so pleased with myself, now it’s done. It’s quickly become my favourite room in the house. Like all the rooms in our house, it’s long and narrow, with the window to the front. Our bedroom is big enough to split into two separate areas.
At one end is the bed (sorry that photo is so dark, I can never get the flash to work on my iPhone). At the other I now have an area to sit and read, or knit, or crochet… you get the idea. There’s a small amp and CD player on the chest of drawers so I can plug my iPhone into it and have my music on. I’ve spent almost every free moment in here! It’s such a nice room to be in, now it’s all tidy. There’s plenty of room on the bottom of the bookcases for all my knitting and sewing paraphernalia.
There’s so much room that I’ve bought a folding table so that I can sew up here, too. I can put my ironing board up at the end of the bed, and I’m good to go. I got all set up on Tuesday to do my ‘homework’, ready for my quilting class. I was so looking forward to it. It took a while to get the new sewing machine going. I had problems with the tension and the thread kept snarling – and so did I! I got there in the end of though, and was pretty chuffed with myself. I had a happy afternoon sewing, pressing and sewing some more. I was all set for my class this afternoon until I noticed the date on my PC this morning. Yesterday wasn’t Tuesday, it was Wednesday. When I was busy doing my sewing, I should have been doing it at my class! And I didn’t finish the tidying up on Monday, it must have been Tuesday! God only knows what I did on Monday, I have no memory of it at all.
I can see the funny side, but I could have cried when I realised it was Thursday and I missed my class. On the upside, when I rang to apologise, I mentioned that I won’t be able to make next week’s class as we’re away. Apparently the tutor is away next week too. I had it in my head that she was away the following week, so I can squeeze in one more class before my working Wednesdays come around.
Muddled up days aside, it’s felt like a productive week so far. I’ve finished the Hogwarts scarf for Jamie. It’s not perfect, but he’s happy with it. I spent over an hour darning in all my ends, then realised that the scarf is a tube and no-one would ever see them! Still, at least they’re nice and secure now. It was strangely therapeutic putting the fringe on. I was glad to get to the end of the end of the scarf as it was bloody boring to knit. On the one hand, it took no concentration, just knit round and round and round. On the down side, I’d completely zone out while knitting and forget to move my stitch counter on and had to stop every few rows and count where I was up to. I suspect that not all of those gold panels are 40 rows long, but they’re as near as damn it.
Having finished the scarf, I can now crack on with Ewan’s throw. I’ve completed the first row of hexagons, just 20 more to go! I’m really pleased with how the colours look together. I think it will look great when it’s finished. I’m also going to have a go at Lucy’s Jolly Chunky Bag. The throw uses 7 colours in large 100g balls and I’d like to have a nice bag to keep the yarn in. I’ve picked out different colours to Lucy’s so it will be interesting to see what I end up with!
Last but not least, have some music. I’ve been listening to Afro Celt Sound System for the last few days and this album is a particular favourite, especially the first track.
